Synopsis: A woman with few resources (Edna Purviance), has had a child while single, and feeling abandoned by the father of the child, she also decides to abandon the baby, hoping that a wealthy family will take him up for adoption. But the little one will end up in the hands of a homeless man (Charles Chaplin), who will soon become fond of him and will decide to move forward as it is. When the boy, now called John (Jackie Coogan) reaches the age of five, the fight for survival and to stay together will be an adventure.
Review: The Kid allows [Chaplin] to develop a story with a prologue, middle and end. And he does it admirably, combining humor, grotesque, tenderness and feeling.(…) it will maintain its appeal for centuries to come.
