Review: The Last Time I Saw Paris is a really beautiful film, I’m surprised it’s not better known. The cast is outstanding, and the script is also amazing, the lines are so beautifully written, especially for Elizabeth Taylor, each one is a surprise, very original yet totally in-keeping with the story. Van Johnson is a sweet well- meaning guy from the Midwest and Elizabeth Taylor is this fun- seeking woman from an eccentric family. They meet-up just as Paris is liberated. The two have really amazing chemistry, and the rest of the cast is fun to watch, especially Walter Pidgeon, who plays Taylor’s father, who feels the most important thing in life is to have fun. It’s also interesting to see the euphoria that followed the liberation of Paris, what heady times those must have been. Highly recommended, a little known gem.
